It was indeed a wonderful party. Yes, the social event of the season, according to many. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. In fact, we've heard all over town that it was the best ever! Lazaro Cardenas Garcia, the manager of Sayulita's water treatment plant has asked for all of our help in maintaining the Sayulita sewer system. The system is run solely by the town of Sayulita and we need your assistance to help inform residents and visitors of the damages caused by placing items in your toilets.

The San Pancho Music Festival began 10 years ago in the backyard of John and Patricia Alexander. A few musicians came together and started playing some music on their back porch. Soon after word got around and the next year a few more musicians showed up to play and it started looking more and more like a music festival. Eventually the success of the festival outgrew the intimate surroundings of the Alexander's backyard and it was time for a change.

Kim Cawood has opened up a fabulous new furniture showroom and design center in Punta Mita. In addition, the top floor of the building also displays a stunning art gallery where work from quite famous artists including Chucho Reyes, Amandor Montes, and Armando Melendez can be viewed.

On Wednesday morning at around 3AM Sayulita lost one of it USA residents, Franco Mares when passed away at the hospital in San Pancho. Mares had esophagitis and had been feeling ill for a couple of days

Grupo Pro Sayulita Reports:

Our mission is to make Sayulita a better place to live and visit. This season has gotten off to a fast start, really a continuity of all our efforts from last season. We are holding a special meeting at 6 pm, January 7 at the Cultural Center to elect a new slate of officers, to discuss our plans for the upcoming year, and to take questions from everyone who attends.

AED: Mike Beck reported that the defibulator will be down here soon and it will be taken to Dr. Moi’s office. He’s willing to get a key to Mike in case he can’t be there. The Dr. will give classes on how to use this equipment and Omar, a new member, noted that he did this kind of work in the States and would be glad to help. Dr. Moi will make sure that he gets his cell number out and about.

The main entrance to Sayulita is now lined with approximately 40 palm trees. Workers have dug very deep holes and planted the trees with great looking soil. Based on the care and attention these new trees received during planting, the odds are certainly much better that they will survive.
