Bite This: Chilaquiles at Don Pedro's

I was surprised to learn that chilaquiles is an old Mexican dish; the first time seen in print was 1898. The version at Don Pedro's has all the bells, beans and whistles and it all adds up to a really robust breakfast, as in break a fast. In fact, this will not only absolutely break a fast, but it will destroy it and will keep you satisfied right up to dinnertime.

The key to the excellent taste in the Don Pedro's version is the sauce in the fried tortilla strips. It is the perfect balance in terms of "hot." Just spicy enough to awaken your taste buds without putting them on smoke alert. The sunny side up egg was cooked just right. With this dish, we received a basket full of delicious toasted bread and butter and marmalade to end the morning with a sweet taste.

If you like a hearty breakfast, Don Pedro's is the place and this is the dish. Prices are super reasonable. We also savored the American breakfast: bacon, eggs and delicately fried potatoes. Many people know of Don Pedro's for lunch and dinner, but breakfast here on the beach is lovely.

Me sorprendió saber que los chilaquiles es un antiguo plato mexicano; la primera vez que salió en la prensa fue en 1898. La versión en Don Pedro's tiene todas las campanas y silbatos, y se suma a un desayuno muy fuerte, bueno para romper de ayunar. De hecho, esta rica comida no sólo rompe el ayuno, sino que lo destruye y te mantendrá satisfecho hasta la hora de cenar.

La clave para el excelente gusto en la receta de Don Pedro's es la salsa cubriendo las tiras de tortillas fritas. Es el equilibrio perfecto en términos de picante, como es suficiente picosa para despertar las papilas gustativas sin encenderlas en llamas. La yema en el huevo frito fue cocinado a la perfección, y al acompañar este plato, recibimos un cesto de delicioso pan tostado con mantequilla y mermelada para terminar un desayuno encantador con un sabor dulce.
