Bite This: A Special Chicken Dish at Calypso

There are lots of things I love about Calypso. One, the food is always good; the portions are generous, often share-able. The wait staff is really friendly. So, the other night, I climbed the stairs and asked one of the waiters if the kitchen could do a little variation on one of my favorite dishes, the panko-crusted friend chicken.

I asked the kitchen to skip the mashed potatoes even though they are so good, and knock off the medley of vegetables, asking for some sliced tomatoes instead. And no gravy. "No Problem" was the swift response and in a few minutes, out came this plate.

I was impressed and delighted. If you think this picture looks good, you are right. The fried chicken would have shamed Col. Sanders. Crisp, a bit spicy and just the right texture. The tomatoes were beautifully ripe and the salsa on the side was a grand way of kicking up the spice. Thanks, Calypso.

With this plate, I enjoyed my favorite cocktail, the mango daiquiri. A bit rum, lots of anti-oxidants and refreshing!

Mango Daiquiry
Hay muchas cosas que me gustan en Calypso. La comida siempre es muy rica, las porciones generosas, se puede compartir los platillos y los meseros son amigables. La otra noche subi las escaleras y pedi mi platillo favorito, el pollo frito, pero con una variacion.

Les pedi de favor que si los cocineros podrian cambiar el pure de papa, lo que es muy rico, por unas rebanadas de jitomate y sin salsa de gravy. "No problema" dijo el mesero y en unos minutos me trajeron este platillo.

Me dejo impresionado y contento. Si creen que esta foto se ve rico, tienes razon. Este pollo frito le averguenza a Col. Sanders. Es crujiente, un poco picante y tenia la textura perfecta. Los jitomates estan en su punto y la salsa a lado agrego un poco de picante. Gracias Calypso.

Con este platillo, disfrute mi coctel favorito, el daiquiri de mango. Un poco de ron, muchas antioxidantes y muy refrescante!
